You need to be prepared for all types of weather conditions — tornadoes, hurricanes, blizzards — but tsunamis are particularly hazardous. If your installation or community is on or near the coast, you may be at risk. Military OneSource has tips that could help you and your family prepare for and survive this devastating act of nature.

Think about:

  • Communicating with each other if a tsunami is approaching
  • Planning an evacuation route if the worst happens
  • Stockpiling food and water for you, your family and your pets if you need to evacuate

While living near the ocean may seem like paradise, families who live in, on or near installations in coastal areas should always be prepared for the possibility of a rare, but dangerous, tsunami.
