Rear Admiral Ann M. Burkhardt

Military Service Representative: Director, 21st Century Sailor Office, Headquarters, U.S. Navy

Term of Service: 2 Years — Beginning June 2016

Rear Admiral Ann Burkhardt is currently serving as the Director, 21st Century Sailor Office. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from Jacksonville University, Jacksonville, Florida; a Master of Science degree in Administration from Central Michigan University and is certified as a senior professional in Human Resources. She completed the Naval War College Fleet Seminar Program, the Joint and Combined Warfighting School and is designated as a joint qualified officer.

As a Navy Human Resources officer, RDML Burkhardt’s prior assignments have been in the areas of training and education, manpower and personnel management. She began her career as an instructor teaching math, reactor principles and physics at Naval Nuclear Power School, Orlando, Florida.

Follow-on tours have included assignments at Naval Computer and Telecommunications Station, Florida; Navy Personnel Command, Tennessee; Training Support Center, Illinois; United States Strategic Command, Nebraska; Defense Equal Opportunity Management Institute, Florida; Naval Education and Training Professional Development and Technology Center, Florida; and Office of Diversity, Inclusion and Women’s Policy, Virginia.

RDML Burkhardt most recently served as Chief of Naval Operations Fellow on the CNO Strategic Studies Group at the Naval War College, Newport, Rhode Island. She assumed the duties of Director, 21st Century Sailor Office on August 21, 2015.
