Family Supplemental Subsistence Allowance Application

Several benefits are available to assist service members during difficult financial times including the Family Supplemental Subsistence Allowance, or FSSA, Program. Eligibility for the FSSA is based on household income level and household size. Service members may be eligible for FSSA only if they are serving outside the United States, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, the United States Virgin Islands or Guam.

The FSSA provides financial assistance to service members and families who meet certain income and household size requirements.

Service members can apply for the FSSA using Defense Department Form 2857.
