The Defense Department Office of Special Needs and Military OneSource have launched a new podcast to help military families learn about the Exceptional Family Member Program. The Office of Special Needs EFMP podcast series features experts from the DOD discussing EFMP, how it works and where to go for more information.
This podcast series is a hands-free, on-the-go resource to get to know EFMP and how it can help you and your family member with special needs overcome challenges and thrive in military life.
Season one of the Office of Special Needs EFMP podcast series covers topics on enrollment, education, PCS, long-term and financial planning, guardianship and conservatorship, and caregiving.
Season two topics include the medical component of EFMP, advocating for yourself and others, family and community life, preparing for separation or retirement, safety and emergency considerations, and preparing for deployments.
Take time to catch up on these pertinent discussions at your convenience. Both seasons are available to listen to today on Stitcher Radio, Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Spotify and Amazon Music.
“We’re excited about introducing the podcast series from Military OneSource as a resource for our EFMP families,” said Mrs. Patricia Montes Barron, deputy assistant secretary of defense for Military Community and Family Policy. “We hope by providing EFMP program information in a listen-and-learn format, we can share timely ideas and tips to inform, educate and hopefully save time for busy military families.”
Military families enrolled or planning to enroll in EFMP, service providers and service leaders who support military families with special medical or educational needs — these podcasts are for you. Tune in and then spread the word to others who might benefit.
The DOD OSN created this podcast series as another way to support military families with special needs. That support starts with EFMP Family Support on installations and includes the Military OneSource network, which provides 24/7 support to service members and families anywhere in the world. EFMP families, service providers and leaders can also access the EFMP & Me tool. Contact Military OneSource EFMP consultants for free, around-the-clock support, tools, assistance and more. Call 800-342-9647 or live chat with a consultant. OCONUS/International? View calling options.
