Military Sexual Trauma

Overview

The Department of Veterans Affairs uses the term “military sexual trauma,” or MST, to refer to incidents of unwanted sexual behavior — including sexual harassment, sexual assault or domestic sexual abuse that occurs during military service. MST includes any sexual activity that a service member is involved with against their will.

The VA is strongly committed to ensuring that MST survivors have access to the help they need to recover.

Visit the Military Sexual Trauma page for more information.

The VA’s website provides more information about military sexual trauma, including resources and treatment options for those who’ve experienced it.
