It’s not too late to register for the Department of Defense Spouse Education and Career Opportunities Program’s third Virtual Military Spouse Symposium.
The free virtual symposium, scheduled April 24-25, will help military spouses of all experience levels, from entry to expert, sharpen their skills for their next career step. The two-day event can help military spouses write attention-grabbing resumes, ace job interviews, get tips for negotiating a salary and much more.
“Military spouses can face unique challenges when it comes to their job searches, despite their high levels of training and ability,” said A.T. Johnston, deputy assistant secretary of defense for Military Community and Family Policy. “The Virtual Military Spouse Symposium connects military spouses with experts in employment and professional education to help them overcome those possible setbacks and find meaningful employment and satisfying careers to support their families, while their service members serve our country.”
Spouses can participate in eight interactive sessions designed especially for the military job search experience. These sessions will help spouses:
- Uncover new sources of jobs
- Network with other professional military spouses
- Gain confidence with interviews and hiring events
- Enhance resumes to be optimal in a digital world
- Improve their LinkedIn profiles and build a professional network
- Learn tips for negotiating a salary and benefits
- Create a healthy personal brand
Whether a spouse is a first-time job seeker, a homemaker planning to re-enter the workforce or a highly-experienced professional seeking a promotion – all military spouses are welcome to attend the Virtual Military Spouse Symposium.
Military spouses can register online anytime for as many sessions as they would like to attend. For those unable to attend a session, presentations and webinar recordings will be available to view after the event on the MySECO website.
The symposium will also provide spouses with the preparation they need for the first-ever Military Spouse Employment Partnership Virtual Hiring Fair, Capture Your Next Career, on Thursday, May 2, 2019, noon – 3 p.m. EDT and 7-9 p.m. EDT. Register now for direct access to hiring managers from MSEP companies and organizations committed to hiring military spouses.
