The National Maternal Mental Health Hotline provides free, confidential support to women who are pregnant or recently had a baby. It also offers support to partners and family members of pregnant and postpartum women. If an individual needs emotional support — is feeling overwhelmed, anxious or just needs someone to talk to — they can reach out to trained counselors, who will:
- Listen to what they’re going through
- Connect them with local support groups and organizations
- Refer them to other health care professionals if they are in need of more care
Counselors may be licensed health care professionals, certified educators or specialists. They are trained to answer hotline calls and texts in English and Spanish. The hotline also offers interpreters in more than 60 languages, including:
- French
- German
- Italian
- Mandarin
- Polish
- Portuguese
- Vietnamese
